In his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, Daniel knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days.
I have to tell you…Daniel is one of my favorite people. In my busy life, I have excuse after excuse to not spend time in the Word and on my knees before God. Excuses…not exactly what God wants to hear. Daniel didn’t make excuses. Praying was as much a staple in his life as eating was…three square prayer meals a day. And it wasn’t just bringing request after request to God…Daniel gave thanks. When was the last time I got down on my knees and thanked God for the many blessings He has given me? I find myself throwing up prayers in the car, at work, wherever I happen to think about it. But that’s not faith building prayer. Not that there’s anything wrong with that kind of prayer. But I think that to have the faith that looks down the mouths of lions and not be afraid, Daniel had the right idea.
